Directions
Getting to Lough Derg
Shannon. Key lakeside hubs include Killaloe/Ballina, Dromineer and Portumna, all providing excellent starting points for exploring the lake.
- From Dublin, take the M7 motorway toward Limerick and exit near Nenagh, arriving in approx. 2–2.5 hours
- From Limerick, Killaloe/Ballina can be reached in approx. 30 minutes
- From Galway, Portumna is approx. 1 hour via the M18
Bus and rail services operate to nearby towns such as Nenagh and Limerick. From there, local taxis and cycling routes connect to lakeside access points.
