Safety Advice
While the Arranmore-Burtonport Blueway provides a scenic and enjoyable setting, conditions may change rapidly. Participation in activities on or adjacent to the water is undertaken at your own risk and requires appropriate caution.
Suitability
The Arranmore-Burtonport Blueway includes walking, cycling and water-based activities. Visitors should choose routes and activities appropriate to their level of fitness, experience and ability.
Some routes pass through remote and exposed areas. Appropriate footwear and clothing should be worn. Those undertaking water-based activities should have the appropriate skills and equipment or use a recognised activity provider.
Conditions
Weather and sea conditions can change quickly along the Atlantic coast. Visitors should check the weather forecast and local conditions before setting out and be prepared for changing weather.
For water-based activities, particular attention should be paid to wind, tides, visibility and sea conditions.

Visitors should be aware of:
- Changing weather and sea conditions

Emergency Information
In an emergency call 999 or 112 and ask for the appropriate emergency service.
Visitors undertaking longer or more remote activities should carry a charged mobile phone and let someone know their intended route and expected return time.
For water-based activities, appropriate personal safety equipment should be used. Visitors should not enter the water where conditions are beyond their experience or ability.
